Inspired by the nature of the instrumental combination in a string quartet—three kinds of instruments as violin, viola, and cello—the composition Trio centers around the number three, on the basis of which the musical content and the formal structure are established. The piece also explores a sonic world which not only is created by the instruments themselves, but is triggered by the essential movements as well as the surroundings.
